A Sunday in Lawrence

Do people take Sunday drives anymore? Perhaps not for the sake of driving but with a town like Lawrence as your destination, it’s worth investing one of your valuable Sundays this month. Even if you’ve never heard of the University of Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball team, there are plenty of reasons to visit. How’s this for an itinerary on Sunday, April 19? Drive over and enjoy lunch at any of the listed establishments. Then visit the Crescent Moon Winery north of town for a tour and a tasting. Take in the nationally recognized Natural History Museum on the University of Kansas campus. Linger into the evening for dinner, then enjoy Grammy Award-winner Kurt Elling at the Lied Center as he interprets Frank Sinatra with his own brand of phrasing: “Elling Swings Sinatra.” It’s a full day, but shouldn’t they all be?
