Go for the unexpected when shopping for a fragrance. Whether it’s a gift (and be very careful with this, it’s imperative you know the person well) or a gift for you (is that so wrong?), the perfect scent should evoke a visceral, sensual pleasure.
Giorgio Armani says yes to a new fragrance with the launch of Sì. It embodies the very nature of the modern woman: strong, feminine, sophisticated and charismatic. And so very Italian. Airy florals blend with musky wood notes—at first delicate, then deepening to a sexy undertone. $115, at Ulta stores, various locations around town.
Asian Green Tea is just one of the five new fragrances released by the House of Creed in their Acqua Originale Collection. Created to evoke the art and culture of the Far East from exotic Malaysia to the rituals of Japan, this scent tops with bergamot, mandarin and oil of lemon, then releases a floral bouquet of violet, heliotrope and rose, and finishes with toasty amber, sandalwood and musk notes. $300, at Halls on Grand.
Inspired by the iconic British trench coat, this newest launch to join the Burberry family of fragrances, My Burberry, captures the essence of a London garden after a soft spring rain. Sweet pea and bergamot top notes meld with geranium, quince and freesia with a base of patchouli, damask and centifolia rose. $125, at Nordstrom in Oak Park Mall.
Alice doesn’t have anything on this. Rose in Wonderland from Atkinsons 1799 (the 1799 is the year this venerable British perfume house was founded) is a deliciously dreamy unisex fragrance with a top note of black currant bud accenting the geranium, vetiver and crystal amber heart, spiked by centifolia rose. $225, at Standard Style on the Plaza and in Town Center Crossing .
With a name that conjures up Marlon Brando bellowing it with passion, Stella from Tocca is described as a tempestuous and moody (Brando, again) flirtatious fragrance. Top notes of bitter orange and blood orange segue into white freesia and spicy lily and bottom notes of musk and sandalwood. $68, at Nordstrom.
