Tudor Farmhouse in Overland Park

‘Tis the Season for the Kappa Kappa Gamma Holiday Homes Tour. And our gift to you is an insider’s look at these fabulous homes from the 2015 tour, decked out in holiday finery by some of Kansas City’s finest floral designers

When Patty Santee walked into the home of Katie and Jay Longhauser, she immediately had a vision. “Their home is such a great combination of modern and traditional. I didn’t want to do something crazy and off the wall, but I didn’t want it to be ‘White Christmas’ either.”

Santee capitalized on the sophisticated neutral palette. Relying heavily on natural greenery of fir branches, magnolia leaves (both the shiny green fronts and the tobacco, suede-like backs) and amaryllis, Santee reflected the couple’s relaxed, sophisticated style. Still, the pair has two small children, so Santee wanted to add a dash of holly-jolly merrymaking. Bright red balls pop up as accents, echoing the dashes of red in the dining room rug. “They are such a delightful and confident young couple,” says Santee. “We wanted to make sure we captured their spirit.”
