Bōru Ramen Bar

The details on Waldo’s newest ramen restaurant

Local restaurateurs Andy Lock and Domhnall Molloy officially opened their latest venture, Bōru Ramen Bar, at 500 W. 75th St. in Waldo Wednesday. The restaurant features Japanese, Chinese and Korean influences with an emphasis on ramen. Culinary director Po Wang experimented with global flavors throughout the extensive menu, which offers eight different types of ramen, nine appetizers, five entree variations and a wide selection of salads.

Bōru uses authentic ingredients imported by Korean and Japanese distributors as well as artisan noodles from ramen maker Sun Noodle. Ramen flavors at Bōru include The Bōru, Tsukemen, Mushroom, Uni and Tantan Mein.

If you’re not familiar with ramen or the type of cuisine served at Bōru, Lock, Molloy and Wang included a glossary in the restaurant’s menu, complete with the ingredients and the definition of each item. Bōru also offers a full-service bar, with 10 Asian-inspired cocktails, domestic, craft, import and Asian beers, and wines by the bottle and glass.
