A stylish, cozy throw that’s designed in Kansas City

Too often blankets are comfortable but not stylish, or look great strewn across a chair but don’t feel great wrapped around your body. Neither situation is the case with K.C. company Happy Habitat.

Created by designer Karrie Kaneda, Happy Habitat sells throws and pillow covers in bold colors and patterns for adults and kids alike. Kaneda’s designs, which have been featured in Domino and Cosmopolitan magazine, were inspired by her desire to make a Moroccan patterned blanket when she couldn’t find one on the market. Once she discovered the perfect recycled cotton, all the pieces fell into place.

One of our favorite throws—the Adana—features an Aztec pattern in pale blue, pewter, black and ivory. At 50 x 60 inches, the blanket is big enough for one person, or for “two people who really like each other,” as Kaneda states on her website.

Happy Habitat’s throws can be found online, or at local stores like Urban Provisions, Made in KC, Westside Storey, Coveted Home and The Little House. To see where Kaneda’s designs can be found in other states, click here.

The Adana throw retails for $160 and is made of 80 percent recycled cotton.
