Sunday Spaces

An exclusive look at this month’s issue, available Jan. 1 in The Kansas City Star

Sunday Spaces, a new lifestyle section published once a month in The Kansas City Star, will return this Sunday, Jan. 1. This month’s edition will include a number of features on fashion, food, drinks, home decor and more from the editors of Kansas City Spaces magazine. Here’s a look at what you can expect in Sunday’s issue:

In the Dressing section, contributing writer Stephanie Jacob showcases the updated shearling jackets that still have a ton of swagger. From bomber jackets to cashmere and denim options, men in Kansas City have a lot of stylish shearling to choose from.

Katee McLean, co-owner of Krokstrom Klubb & Market, shares her recipe for Raggmunk: Swedish Potato Pancakes with Pork Belly and Lingonberry Jam in the Cooking section. Contributing writer Judith Fertig provides tips for making a hearty, smoky soup reminiscent of the flavors served at some of K.C.’s best restaurants.

This month, Tom Strongman reviews the redesigned Honda Ridgeline, an urban pickup perfect for tailgating and camping.

In the Wedding section, you’ll get the details on one local couple’s surprise Thanksgiving wedding, filled with heartwarming details and memorable moments.

The Drinking section features a restorative elixir from Laura Norris, proprietor at Cucina della Ragazza in Westport. If you haven’t made a New Year’s resolution yet, take contributing writer Cody Hogan’s advice and resolve to try three new wines.

Interior designer Jan Kyle gives readers the details on her current design obsession, and contributing writer Brooke McGrath rounds up the most stylish side tables in the Decorating section. You’ll also get a look inside the bright and sunny Palm Springs home designed by Kansas City’s John Rufenacht, with tips on how to replicate the look in your own space.
