Friday

First Fridays

Indulge in one of the many options at the Kansas City Star’s Food Truck Friday, then work your way to one of the many art exhibits in the historic Crossroads. Wine connoisseurs will enjoy the opening of KC Wineworks, a new winery and tasting room.

If you haven’t bought tickets to this annual event, it’s not too late. The event formally known as ArtBraKC celebrated its sixth year of raising money for the uninsured/underinsured cancer community. Tickets are $125 and include food, an open bar and plenty of entertainment. The festivities start at 7 p.m.

Saturday

Sunny skies and 70-degree weather make for the perfect day at Overland Park Arboretum. Buy a kite or bring your own during the park’s annual Kite Fest from 12 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Entrance is $3 for adults and $1 for kids.

Kansas City Royals vs. New York Mets

It’s the moment Royals fans have been waiting for: Opening Day. And they face who else: their 2015 World Series opponents. First pitch is scheduled for 7:37 p.m.
