Friday

Happy Hour with Brian Boitano

Mingle with a former Olympian and U.S. Figure Skating champion Friday at Cleaver & Cork from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Brian Boitano will be mixing his special KC Gold cocktail and will be available for autographs and photos. The first 50 happy-hour guests will receive free tickets to the men’s short program in the U.S. Figure Skating Championships at the Sprint Center. For more details about the event, click here.

Party Arty

The Young Friends of Art is hosting its annual Party Arty at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art from 8 to midnight. This year’s “Imagine” theme will showcase avant-garde art. Party goers will be able to enjoy food and drinks from Tom’s Town, Lidia’s, Doughnut Lounge and Donutology while they dance to music by DJ Mike Scott. Tickets are $100 for members and can be purchased here.

Bowie the Actor Series

Pay tribute to David Bowie’s artistry with the Kansas City Public Library’s film series starring the actor and singer. On Saturday, the library will be screening the 1996 film Basquiat, in which Bowie played famous artist and provocateur Andy Warhol. The showing begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Central Library location. Kansas City Boat & Sportshow

Escape winter for a day at Bartle Hall, where boating, fishing, hunting and camping gear will be on display throughout the weekend.
