If you’re not connecting with your own city’s musical past, why not try for the music of another homeland? Since their founding in the 1960s, The Chieftains have been spreading the sweet sounds of traditional Irish folk music around the globe. And on March 11 they’ll be spreading a little of that love to Kansas City with a performance at the Kauffman Center. In their 50-plus years together, this six-time Grammy award-winning group has reinvented the genre of Irish folk music, putting their own spin on traditional songs and even collaborating with modern artists such as Bon Iver and The Decemberists for a sound and style that is all their own. kauffmancenter.org
