If it’s been awhile since you last connected with Kansas City’s jazz heritage, now is your chance. Rain or shine, make your way to 18th and Vine on October 10 for the annual Kansas City’s 18th & Vine Jazz and Blues Festival. With more than 20 artists playing on several stages, this live-music festival provides all the opportunity you need to take in a slice of the city’s musical history. This year’s headliners include jazz trombonist Conrad Herwig, blues guitarist Popa Chubby, R&B singer Dwele, and the soul/rock/funk group Sly and The Family Stone. It wouldn’t be a festival without ample food options and art vendors, and this one isn’t any different. In keeping with the American Jazz Museum’s focus on jazz awareness, the event will also include several educational workshops and panel sessions. festival.americanjazzmuseum.org
