Becky Hillyard, the fashion blogger behind Cella Jane, shares her skincare routine
Becky Hillyard, the blogger behind Cella Jane, knows a thing or two about fashion. The Kansas City native started her blog about two years ago, and has since become a major style influencer. But Hillyard also knows a thing or two about skincare, thanks to her mother, who owns Ave Medical Laser Spa. Here, Hillyard shares her daily routine, including her favorite products and techniques:
Skincare has always been very important to me — probably because my mom has ingrained it in me from a young age. She owns a beauty spa, Ave Medical Laser Spa, and is always giving me instructions on what to use and what are the best and most important products. I often try new and different products, but always come back to this essential routine.
The backbone of my skincare routine is the Obagi Nu-Derm System. This is the No. 1 physician-dispensed skincare system. Obagi is great for reducing and preventing sun damage and age spots. It also helps create a more uniform and healthy skin tone. I noticed results after a couple weeks of using it. It is a little pricey for the whole kit, but once you purchase the kit, you are able to replace each step as needed.
I use the Obagi face wash with the Clarisonic Mia. The cleanser is great at cleaning pores — my mom always notices when I slack off on using it ;).
Following the Obagi face wash (step 1) and toner (step 2), I then use steps 3 and 5 at night. I use steps 3 and 4 in the morning — the great thing about Obagi is the bottles tell you when to apply. Apply step 6, the moisturizer, at bedtime.
I also use Skin Medica Eye Repair Cream in the morning and at bedtime. Right after I started to use this eye cream, I noticed a difference in my eye puffiness. It also helps prevent wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes.
In the morning, in addition to the Obagi steps 2, 3, 4, and 6, I also apply the Obagi Professional Vitamin C Serum, which is great for blocking free radicals, protecting your skin and creating younger looking skin.
After applying my skin products, I then use Revision Intellishade Tinted Moisturizer. This is one of my favorite products and one I CANNOT go without it. This gives my skin a beautiful glow. It also has sunscreen in it. I prefer the Original and not the Matte product.
In summary and order:
AM: Obagi Step 2, Vit C+E Complex, Step 3, 4, 6, Skin Medica Eye Cream, Revision Intellishade
PM: Obagi Step 1 + Obagi Cleanser, Step 2, 3, 5, Skin Medica Eye Cream, Dermal Repair
**Please consult with your Physician before using if you are nursing or pregnant.
Sounds like a lot to slather on your face, right? While it does take a little time, my mom and her beautiful, youthful skin are a great reminder of how important it is to take care of your skin starting at an early age. Because these products are medical grade, they do come with a higher price tag. But, as with all medical grade product, a little goes a long way and they tend to last a long time.
