Champagne native Ingrid and Guillaume Hanriot has created a warm and casual environment for an exquisite French dining experience in an upstairs location overlooking quaint downtown Parkville. Tree-lined wooden decks wrap around the restaurant, providing amazing outdoor seating for 50.
Ingrid assembles a mix of traditional and progressive French dishes. Guillaume selects more than 60 wines and after-dinner drinks that will complement your experience at Cafe des Amis. In the evening, the old street light of Parkville adds to the ambience of the bistro.

Pan-Seared Scallops with red bell pepper and basil sauce
- 3 red bell peppers
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1 Tbs. chopped basil
- 1 c. chicken stock
- Pinch of lemon zest
- 4 Tbs. butter
- 1 1/2 to 2 lbs. scallops
Core the red bell peppers, cut them in half and press down flat (skin facing up) onto sheetpan lined with aluminum foil. Roast them in the oven. Peel the skin off. Place the bell peppers into bar blender and add salt, cayenne pepper, basil, chicken stock and lemon zest. Blend until everything has been fully pureed.
In a large pan, melt the butter until is brown. Place the scallops on the pan and allow them to sear for about 2 min. Sear the uncooked side of the scallops another 2 min. Divide sauce among the four dinner plates. Place scallops on top of sauce. Serve immediately.
