Here’s what’s happening in Kansas City Aug. 12-14
Spend your weekend sipping on margaritas, competing outdoors Olympics-style or watching the Chiefs take on the Seahawks in their first preseason game of 2016.
We don’t know what sounds better — the margaritas or the competition. Starting at 5 p.m. at The Well, local restaurants will face off with samples of their best margaritas for spectators to enjoy. Taste the best from Chuys, the Drunken Worm, Charlie Hoopers, The Well and Lew’s. But the fun doesn’t stop there. Local restaurants will also be offering food until 9 p.m. To buy tickets or find out more about the event, click here.
Kansas City Comic Con
Kansas City’s hometown convention begins Friday at 1 p.m. at Bartle Hall. The show is an all-ages event, and features an array of comic memorabilia, autographs from local actors and actresses, live art and a gaming room. Comic Con continues throughout the weekend from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Find out more about the event here.
Chiefs vs. Seahawks
Get your first look of the 2016 Chiefs during their preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks at Arrowhead Stadium. The game begins at 3:30 p.m., but we all know the party starts in the parking lot. Bring your best barbecue and beer for the full tailgating experience. Tickets can be purchased here.
Get in the Olympic spirit and benefit Hope House from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the National World War I Museum and Memorial. Whether you compete in the Kickball Tournament, the Grass Volleyball Tournament or the Tailgate Pentathlon, there’s an event for every participant. Local celebrities will even take part in a torch relay, followed by a live concert. Learn more about the event here.
Royal Fondue Fairytale
Princes, princesses, knights and warriors — they’re all welcome at The Melting Pot on the Country Club Plaza from 12 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Guests under the age of 12 can feast on a royal three-course meal for $24.95 while older guests can enjoy a four-course meal for $34.95.
